President & CEO
Meesha Brown is the trailblazing President & CEO of Rising Impact, the first woman and person of color to lead the organization. With over 20 years of experience in education, communications, and transformative leadership, Meesha is a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her leadership inspires cultural change on a global scale, empowering individuals to realize their rights and communities to thrive.
A visionary leader, Meesha has skillfully led Rising Impact’s program portfolio spanning 70 countries, 30 languages, and diverse partners, driving impactful initiatives in immunization, nutrition, climate resilience, and combating violence against women and children. She spearheaded initiatives such as the award-winning #ISurvivedEbola campaign, which reached over 10 million people with lifesaving information during the Ebola crisis.
Previously, Meesha served as Director of Literacy for New York City Public Schools, influencing policies that impacted 1.1 million students. Meesha also serves on the boards of Calvert Impact Capital, the David and Dovetta Wilson Scholarship Fund, and Climate United. She holds a B.A. in education with a specialization in reading from the University of Texas and pursued an MSc in urban policy at the New School. A proud West Texan and one of 11 siblings, she brings a deeply personal commitment to education and equity.
