Capacity & Community Strengthening
Through our training, teens and local radio producers develop call-in shows that draw audiences. They gain skills in using feedback from audience to foster informed conversation both on and ooff air.
Rising Impact is empowering communities to transform health outcomes and create sustainable change through initiatives like Ouro Negro.
Mozambique has a high rate of child malnutrition, maternal and child mortality, as well as communicable and non-communicable diseases. Lack of access to information and services is a contributing factor, as well as gender inequality, and low-literacy rates, especially among women.
Ouro Negro was generously funded by UNICEF Mozambique, its core implementing partner since inception in 2015. Rising Impact co-created Ouro Negro with UNICEF, the World Food Programme, the Government of Flanders, MISAU (the Ministry of Health in Mozambique), and Grand Canada Challenges.
